Coronation Street seems to have revealed who stole Bethany Platt's credit card, and they are no stranger to the ITV soap.
While their identity was not fully shown, the clothes worn by the thief matched those worn by a returning character who made their comeback in the latest episode on Monday night. Bethany had just been given CCTV footage of the person who used her card at a pizzeria, with her determined to find out who was committing fraud and using her card.
Recently on the show Bethany received some post she had redirected from London and was shocked to discover she had been a victim of fraud. Bethany was furious to learn someone had been fraudulently using her old company credit card, with her unaware how they'd stolen it.
But in the latest episode we may have found out the true culprit, weeks on from viewers guessing the truth. As Bethany scanned the CCTV, she noted it appeared to be a young woman using it.
While the camera did not show their face, it did reveal the character in question was wearing a big, dark coat. We then saw what appeared to be the very same coat being worn by someone, who visited Roy Cropper at the hospital.
Roy collapsed and was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack, with him placed on a ventilator. As he fought for his life, his family gathered at the hospital only for him to receive a surprise visitor.
The person walked in and took their hood off, revealing they were none other than missing teen Lauren Bolton who had been feared dead. Lauren was attacked by Joel Deering back in February and has been missing ever since, until now.
As Lauren removed her hood, she sobbed as she told Roy she was sorry. But the coat she was wearing appeared to match the same coat that was worn by the mystery credit card thief in the CCTV footage watched by Bethany, with this played just before Lauren's comeback was confirmed.
A spoiler for next week now confirms this is the case too. It reads: "Bethany tells Sarah about the sighting of Lauren and how the coat she was wearing matches the coat they saw on the girl in the CCTV from the pizza joint in Leicester, and that she was clearly the person using her credit card."
Some viewers had guessed she would be the thief, with one writing on X days ago: "I bet it’s Lauren who is using Bethany’s stolen credit card. Didn’t she go missing a day or two after she was caught going through her bag???" Another added: "I think Lauren could be using Bethany’s credit card."
