If a trip to the Maldives seems too pricey, look no further.

When thinking of Scottish holidays, what springs to mind? Perhaps it's braving a Highlands road trip adventure, or simply hoping to catch a bit of sunshine amid the seemingly endless rain.

But now, one couple seem to have found the 'Maldives of the UK', after stumbling upon an unbelievable beach while hiking on holiday. The Scottish scene not only boasts stunning white sands but crystal clear waters that could easily be mistaken for a mirage.

Dubbed 'The Travel Duo', partners Chris and Sam took to YouTube to vlog their journey, explaining just how they found the precious spot. "I was just on the beach, we were just about to leave," Sam explained.

"I sent the drone up to get some drone shots of this beach and I saw another incredible stunning spot on the other side of this mountain... so I'm taking Chris and Fletcher on a little bit of an adventure to see if we can get there because it looks insane."

After clambering through the mud and over some hills, they both finally set foot on the white sand. "Doesn't it look like the Maldives?," she said. "I feel like I've died and gone to heaven. Honestly, it's insane and that water is way too good to not go in for a swim."

Chris and Sam's paradise beach is located on Scotland's Isle of Harris - nestled off the west coast in the Outer Hebrides. While they don't reveal the name of this exact spot, Harris certainly isn't short of idyllic scenes that are easy to find if you're seeking a similar experience.

Take Luskentyre Sands for example. Recently ranked the top beach in the country, this heavenly spot is not only famous for its seemingly endless stretch of white sand, but for also hosting BBC's Castaway series.

You still won't struggle to find a place for your towel either, as its secluded location has kept it relatively undiscovered. Harris, Lewis and its neighbouring, smaller islands are home to around 22,000 people.

Hushinish Beach is another hotspot found at the end of a 12-mile-long road at the west side of Harris. According to Visit Scotland, dolphins and seals frequently visit the area, with the beach offering beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Meanwhile, Maldivian holidays currently cost around £1,700 per person each week, according to Travel Republic, so these spots are a great alternative for Brits looking for a budget trip. And commenters seem to agree too, voicing their disbelief on Chris and Sam's video.

One wrote: "Got to keep some secrets, Lewis and Harris [are] on my list for this summer when I can get a trip of off from work at sea, my beagles need to be free on these beaches, great vid." Another added: "Wow. Such a great video and what a place!!"
