The summer transfer window opens in just eight days' time and Premier League clubs are locked and loaded.

Arsenal are keen to sign new striker and while RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko has already said yes to what could be a £55million move to the Emirates, Newcastle talisman Alexander Isak is also on their radar. Manchester United are focussed on the other end of the pitch in co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first transfer window, with Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite top of their priorities.

His arrival could be fuelled by the seismic departure of Bruno Fernandes, who wants United to show commitment by offering him a new mega-money contract amid interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Jadon Sancho is another big-name star who could be on his way out of Old Trafford, although he'd be willing to play for the Red Devils again if they decide to sack boss Erik ten Hag.

Liverpool have already got a new boss in Arne Slot and have received a boost regarding Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Premier League statement on profit and sustainability rules

"At the Premier League’s Annual General Meeting today, clubs agreed to trial an alternative League-wide financial system next season on a non-binding basis.

"The existing Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) will remain in place, but clubs will trial Squad Cost Rules (SCR) and Top to Bottom Anchoring Rules (TBA) in shadow.

"This will enable the League and clubs to fully evaluate the system, including the operation of UEFA’s equivalent new financial regulations, and to complete its consultation with all relevant stakeholders.

"The overall system aims to improve and preserve clubs’ financial sustainability and the competitive balance of the Premier League, promote aspiration of clubs, facilitate a workable alignment with other relevant competitions and support clubs’ competitiveness in UEFA club competitions, while providing certainty and clarity for clubs, fans and stakeholders.

"SCR will regulate on-pitch spend to a proportion (85%) of a club’s football revenue and net profit/loss on player sales. TBA is a League-level anchor linked to football costs, based on a multiple of the forecast lowest central distribution for that season. It is designed to be a pre-emptive measure to protect the competitive balance of the Premier League. This protection is intended not to have an impact unless significant revenue divergence of clubs occurs."

Deal almost done

Real Betis president Angel Haro confirmed his side are close to sealing another loan deal for Leeds United ace Marc Roca.

“Roca remains almost one hundred percent, on loan or with another formula. If Carvalho and Guido leave, another midfielder will have to be signed,” he said, per Sport Witness

The club chief also suggested his team would be battling West Ham United for Shahktar Donetsk star Vitão.

“He is on our shortlist, with seven or eight others, very interesting. Nothing is closed, (because he) is an expensive player,” he added.

Szczesny return?

Arsenal could be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, particularly if Aaron Ramsdale departs in search of first team football. David Raya is set to see his loan move made permanent at the Emirates but Mikel Artetea may still require some back up.

Szczesny could be allowed to leave Juventus this summer and that could prick Arsenal ears.

Clubs have voted to persist with the technology but plan to make changes.

Hato confirms future plan

Ajax defender Jorrel Hato has drawn interest from Arsenal and Manchester United this summer but it seems he is set to stay in the Nethelands. The 18-year-old wants to continue his development in the Dutch capital.

“No, I'll just play for Ajax next season,” Hato told AjaxLife.

“I haven't finished learning here yet. And I want to win prizes with Ajax. That was my dream when I came here.”

Maguire on the move

Not England star Harry Maguire but his brother Laurence has made a move to MK Dons. The defender spent last season on loan at Crawley Town from Chesterfield. Both of those teams achieved promotion last term but Maguire's contract expired at the end of the season meaning he was available on a free.

Sesko latest

The forward has been linked to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United but nothing is decided yet. Fabrizio Romano has provided an update.

“He has a big proposal from Leipzig on the table. It's a big contract proposal to extend this contract, to change the release clause, and to get a very big salary at the club, to be the new star of Leipzig, also for next season.

"So now the first step is he has to decide whether he wants to reject this proposal and leave and go to the Premier League or stay at the club.

“So, basically, this is the first step, and he's not decided yet. And then, in case he decides to go to the Premier League, he has possibilities with Arsenal.”

Gabriel dreams of move

Possibly not one for Arsenal to immediately worry about but Arsenal defener Gabriel has an eye on a return to his homeland. The mention of 'tomorrow' may leave some sweating though.

"Corinthians, that’s since I was born and today I don’t think it has to be any different," he commented when asked who he would love to play for. "I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream, I want to play for Corinthians, I want to feel that energy."

He added: "It’s something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, 'Do you dream of playing for Corinthians?' I do. 'When would you play for Corinthians?' For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow.

"I hope it doesn’t take too long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible."

Newcastle's non-negotiable

Former Newcastle and Nottingham Forest defender believes Newcastle should not even contemplate the sales of Bruno Guimaraes or Alexander Isak and should instead part ways with fringe players to garner funds.

"I want to see Bruno Guimaraes staying and competing for Newcastle next seasonm" he told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 betting. "He looks as though he's enjoying his football, enjoying the environment and they might well need to sell players but it shouldn't be him.

Selling players that are on the periphery to balance the books I think will be their best way forward. Eddie Howe should list the players he wants to keep and he would be one of the non-negotiables alongside Alexander Isak; they both need to stay because they are building something.

Fenerbahce's Mourinho plan

The Turkish side appointed Jose Mourinho earlier this week and hope his arrival can produce some good business in the transfer market.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koç said: "The most important thing for us this year is the level we want to bring the squad to players of Mourinho's level. "Davinson Sanchez was recommended to us. The total salary of our two centre backs is less than Davinson's.

"We didn't pay a transfer fee to Djiku, Fred, Szymanski... Players of that level will come."

Florian Wirtz comments on future

Germany international Florian Wirtz has spoken out on his Bayer Leverkusen future. The 21-year-old enjoyed a good season as his side won the Bundesliga and still has three years remaining on his contract.

Wirtz told Sky Germany: "Everyone knows my contract. Now is not the time to talk about it. I'm definitely having a great time in Leverkusen and I feel good.

"The European Championship is 100 per cent on my mind right now. I don't care about anything else right now.

En-Nesyri battle

Tottenham and West Ham look set to battle for Youssef En-Nesyri, according to reports in Spain.

The Sevilla forward could be set to depart the club in the coming months as his team look to make a sale before he can leave on a free in 12 months time.

West Ham have previously attempted to land En-Nesyri and Radio Sevilla claim that Spurs are also interested in agreeing a deal for the 27-year-old.

Maatsen proposal

Borussia Dortmund are set to present a €25m (£21m) proposal to Chelsea for Ian Maatsen, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Dutch defender enjoyed a productive six-month loan in Germany and Dortmund hope to land the full back. Chelsea set a release clause at £35m but the Bundesliga side are reluctant to consider that figure.

Arsenal boost

Arsenal's quest to sign Viktor Tsyankov from Girona may have received a boost with the La Liga side potentially on the verge of signing a replacement. Mundo Deportivo suggests that Girona have agreed a deal for Luciano Rodriguez from Liverpool Montevideo.

Reporters emerged earlier in the week that the Gunners were chasing the Ukraine winger who helped Girona to Champions League qualification.

Arsenal eye £26m-rated La Liga star

Arsenal have approached Girona about signing talented winger Viktor Tsygankov - but they've got competition.

According to Spanish outlet AS, both the Gunners and AC Milan are keen on signing the 26-year-old Ukraine international, who's set to feature at Euro 2024.

Tsygankov, who helped Girona finish third in La Liga, is said to have a release clause worth £26million.

Chelsea only want permanent Lukaku sale

Chelsea will reject all loan offers for Romelu Lukaku as they look to offload him permanently this summer.

The Belgian has just seen his loan stint at Roma come to an end and he'll return to Stamford Bridge. That is his second successive season away from the Blues having had a year at Inter Milan prior to that.

Chelsea paid a then club-record £97.5m to land Lukaku back in 2021 but he failed to hit expectations and was allowed to leave after just 12 months. Now the west Londoners want to get him and his £325,000-a-week wages off their books - meaning they will accept around £37m, according to the BBC.

AC Milan and Napoli are both keen on Lukaku, but they are limited financially and cannot meet the asking price. Napoli have just appointed Antonio Conte, who won Serie A with Lukaku at Inter.

EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd hero picks out transfer priority

Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has told the club to sign a box-to-box midfielder this summer.

Sharpe, speaking exclusively to Mirror Football via bestcasino.co.uk, said: "I'd love to see a dribbling, aggressive midfielder that can take the ball from defence to attack. Like [Mousa] Dembele used to be for Spurs.

"Like Ross Barkley has done this year for Luton, how he has picked the ball up off the back four, had the ability to drop the shoulder and go past someone and carry the ball from just outside our box to just outside the opponents box within a matter of seconds. I think that's what we're missing."

ICYMI: Man Utd lodge £51m Yoro bid

Manchester United have submitted bid worth £51million for Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro.

The 18-year-old centre-back is also wanted by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but is admired by United, too.

Marca claim that the Red Devils have made their first offer, although Real Madrid are considered the favourites.

United view Yoro as alternative to Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite.

ICYMI: Isak speaks out amid Arsenal links

Alexander Isak has insisted that he's "really, really happy at Newcastle" amid interest from Arsenal.

The Swede enjoyed a prolific 2023-24 Premier League season, scoring 21 goals to finish third in the golden boot race and he's among Arsenal's top striker targets.

"I had my best season of my career," Isak, 24, declared. "You can't underestimate that. I love everything about the club, the fans, the city.

"I don't really have any thoughts of moving or anything like that. I'm having a great time and I'm very happy with my life."

ICYMI: Liverpool receive Chiesa boost

Liverpool have been given the green light to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who isn't in new manager Thiago Motta's plans.

According to Sky Italia, 26-year-old Chiesa will be made available this summer and has long been viewed as a replacement option for Mohamed Salah.

The Italy international is only under contract for another 12 months and he's valued at £70million.

Good morning

Hello and welcome to Thursday's live transfer blog!

We've got plenty to get through, so let's get started.

Goodnight

That's all from us - we'll be back with all the latest tomorrow!

Chelsea's Lukaku stance

Chelsea, Newcastle goalkeeper target speaks out on links

Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen admits he is flattered by links with Chelsea and Newcastle - but admits it is "difficult" to say where he will end up.

The 22-year-old, who was represented Denmark at Under-21 level, played in 36 out of Villarreal's 38 La Liga games last season.

"It’s fun. You can tell I’ve done something good and I’ve done it well," he told Norwegian outlet Tipsbladet when asked about the links. "It’s difficult to say (what will happen). I just want to get better every day and do the best I can.

"There is no definite plan. If something good comes, we can talk about it and see what’s best for me, for Villarreal and for everyone involved."

Barca want to keep loan pair

Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits the club want to keep loanees Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo. Felix has been at the Nou Camp while on loan from Atletico Madrid while Man City remains Cancelo's parent club.

"We want them to continue. Deco is working to ensure that they continue another season in the current conditions," Laporta said on his own Barca One podcast.

"Flick considers that they are high-quality players and when he coached Bayern he already tried to incorporate Joao Felix. I think that Felix could have performed better because he has extraordinary quality."

Bayern considering Zinchenko move

Oleksandr Zinchenko could have admirers in Bayern Munich with Vincent Kompany considering making one of his ex-Manchester City team-mates his first signing.

The Ukrainian has just finished his second season at the Emirates but has slipped down the pecking order whilst Arsenal are also considering bringing in a new left-back, which is why Zinchenko has typically played. Bayern are having to make future plans as they gear up for the potential exit of Alphonso Davies, who is being courted by Real Madrid.

Arteta said on Zinchenko several months ago: "He has given us a lot. He's a player with different qualities and an unbelievable courage to play football in any circumstances."

The race for Gallagher

The race for Conor Gallagher continues with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham will make a move.

They want to make a swoop before this month’s Premier League profit and sustainability deadline. Aston Villa are understood to have held talks with Chelsea over a £50m move for the midfielder.

Newcastle have been linked as have Atletico Madrid, which is an unlikely destination.
