Bruno Fernandes has told Manchester United he is happy to leave this summer if they want to cash in on him.

United are bracing themselves for offers for their skipper, with Saudi club Al-Nassr preparing a lucrative bid of around £90million for the Portuguese playmaker. After captaining United to victory over Newcastle, Fernandes hit United with the ultimatum and said if they want to keep him they must show him.

"The club needs to want me," said Fernandes. "I feel the club wants me to be a part of the future. As I said always, I don't want to be a player that the club doesn't want to have. If for some reason they don't want to have me, I will go. But if they want me, I will stay.‌

"I am no different from anyone just because I have the armband. I always try my best and we always do the best we can for the club - nobody hides that we play for a big club and we have to lift our standards every game."

‌United boss Erik ten Hag interrupted Fernandes as he gave his interview and dragged him away so he could address the fans from the centre circle after the final game of the season at Old Trafford, a 3-2 win. Asked about Fernandes and his future, Ten Hag said: "No, absolutely, the club wants to keep Bruno.

‌"I have to see the interview, maybe it's your interpretation, but from everything I know from him he loves Manchester United, the fans of United and to play for United. He always gives his best and is an example, even with injuries.

"He loves football and wants to win. That is how I would describe his character. I'm very pleased with his performances. It's not easy when so many players are injured around him and he has to carry the team."

United won with goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Rasmus Hojlund, but the highest they can finish is seventh - equalling their worst Premier League finish. Ten Hag added: "It's always nice to win any game. It's important to win the last game at Old Trafford this season.

"The fans deserve this because they've had difficult times and always stayed with us. We are here together. We wanted to pay the fans back."

Ten Hag himself faces an uncertain future as manager, with United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe potentially wielding the axe following next Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City. First, though, it's a trip to Brighton on Sunday to end their Premier League campaign.
