Manchester United are willing to let winger Jadon Sancho leave Old Trafford for £40million.

United had previously refused to budge from their £50m price tag in the aftermath of the winger's falling out with Erik ten Hag. Reports now suggest the intention is to sell the 24-year-old regardless of who manages the club next term, with a fee helping to alleviate any pressure from the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

Sancho enjoyed a positive loan spell with Borussia Dortmund in the second half of 2023/24 and reached the Champions League final with the Bundesliga side. The German giants would be more suited to another loan arrangement however.

The cut-price offer will see the Red Devils take a greater hit on their £73m signing who still has two years remaning on his contract. Sancho has recorded 12 goals and six assists for United since arriving in 2021.

Mirror Football understands that Sancho had shown willingness to return to his parent club this summer. Though, there is little illusion that he would have no future in the north west under Ten Hag.

The England international had been said to be reluctant to give up on his United career. Sancho still harbours hope of playing at the highest level and helping Dortmung reach Wembley to face Real Madrid in the Champions League has underlined that.

United now appear set to manufacture a sale regardless of who sits in the hotseat and could field interest from Europe with Juventus already linked. That leaves more certainty for Sancho than manager Ten Hag.

The Dutch coach still awaits a decision on whether he will be handed the opportunity to continue his work at Old Trafford following the club's FA Cup win over rivals Manchester City. A decision had been expected quickly following the season but is beginning to draw out.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United's hierarchy are said to have met with Thomas Tuchel to discuss the German boss taking helm at the club. However, the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss has since decided he would not be interested in any offer to take over at the Premier League side.
