Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was reportedly mocked behind his back by some Red Devils players last season.

Ten Hag will remain United manager following an end-of-season review led by the club's new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, with the Dutchman given a stay of execution. United are also set to hold talks with Ten Hag over a new deal, with the club wanting to change his role from manager to head coach.

And with Ten Hag now starting to plan for next season, one of his main priorities will be ensuring harmony in the dressing room. There have been several public disputes during his time at Old Trafford so far, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo's critical interview with Piers Morgan and Jadon Sancho accusing Ten Hag of lying.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, some United stars even mocked the manager behind his back by making buzzing noises. The noises were a reference to a training session early in Ten Hag's tenure when he told the squad he wanted them to buzz around the opposition 'like bees' when they were out of possession, with the 54-year-old making buzzing noises to illustrate his point.

Despite the incident, the report states that Ten Hag still 'retains the backing of most of the players'. However, it does not that 'more harmony is required in the dressing room'.

United's FA Cup win ensured the season ended on a high after the Red Devils recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish, but a defiant Ten Hag said after the game that his record of winning trophies deserves more respect.

"If they don't want me anymore I will go somewhere else to win trophies - because that's what I have always done throughout my career," he said. "When I came here I said I had come to win trophies and we have now won two.

"That isn't bad, is it? This club hasn't won many trophies over the last 10 years. INEOS have told me - but they don't have to tell me every week. I am where I want to be. When I came here, United were in a mess.

"I don't know (about the future). But this team now has an identity. Now we have ended the season on a high and we have all summer to enjoy it. The team is developing, the team is winning and the team plays to an identity but you need the players to be available and a strong squad especially when you play in England and Europe.

"We need more players because the depth in the squad is by far not good enough. Also, still, we need transfer windows to bring better players in and also players who are always available or often valuable because when the players are not robust enough, you cannot win trophies."
