Jadon Sancho will not be available for selection this weekend - pending the outcome of his disciplinary issue with boss Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United winger Sancho was left out of his side's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on September 3 because of poor performances in training, according to Ten Hag.

Sancho took to social media to refute Ten Hag’s claim he was left out because of below-par performances on the training pitch.

Although Sancho has since removed the social media post disputing Ten Hag's claim, the 23-year-old will not be involved against Brighton on Saturday.

United released a statement which read: “Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”

Ten Hag's comments after the defeat to Arsenal were dismissed by Sancho on social media, insisting that they were "completely untrue" before labelling himself a 'scapegoat'.

There have been suggestions that there would be no way back for him at Old Trafford under Ten Hag, although CEO Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough have attempted to diffuse the situation this week.

Former United midfielder Gordon Strachan has put the onus on the England international to win back his place, insisting: "Jadon needs to look at himself and figure out what he’s doing wrong, rather than feeling as though he’s being attacked.

“Of course, we don’t know the whole story, but that’s how I see it from the outside. The first thing I would say to a player is 'have a look at yourself'. Look at yourself before anybody else, it’s as simple as that.

“Go and look at your games and tell me if that’s as good as you think you can be. If it is, then you can’t play here because the standard is far bigger at Manchester United than anywhere else.

The developments regarding Sancho come with winger Antony on a period of leave from the club as police continue their investigations into an alleged attack of a former girlfriend.

Both players were named in United's 25-man Premier League squad earlier this week but will play no part in the clash with Brighton, who sit in sixth, three points above Ten Hag's side.
