Jurgen Klopp ended his Liverpool tenure in the same way as so much of the last nine years has gone - winning.

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarrell Quansah earned the Reds a 2-0 win over Wolves at an emotional and jubilant Anfield. The result on the pitch was never really in doubt from the moment Nelson Semedo saw red for a lunge on Mac Allister, with fans able to focus on giving Klopp the farewell he deserved.

After the final whistle, Klopp addressed the adoring Liverpool fans, before asking supporters to get behind the man who will replace him, Arne Slot.

It was an emotional day for the 56-year-old, as his nine-year tenure comes to an end. Since arriving at the club shy of a decade ago, the German has guided the Reds to a Premier League title, a FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, a Champions League win and a Club World Cup.

An amazing moment

Our writer, Chris McKenna believes one moment stood above most as Anfield declared its love for Jurgen Klopp on Sunday.

Seven minutes told the story of Klopp's final day.

Emotions ran high

Of course, it was an emotional day for more than the departing Klopp. Liverpool fans and players have formed a deep connection with the boss.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has spent his professional career under the German coach and was visibly overcome with emotion following today's match.

It will certainly be a big moment for him.

Why Klopp didn't cry

It looked like he came pretty close to us but it appears joy outweighed any sadness. There were definitely some tears in Liverpool today however.

"I really expected myself to have more of a breakdown but I enjoyed it so much," Klopp told . "I don't think of myself as this important but I'm happy with the decision I've made. I'm standing here and I'm somehow over the moon, I can't explain it."

Robertson makes Klopp revelation

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson claimed after today's match, that Klopp still hoped to keep things 'norma', until he saw what lay ahead of him at Anfield.

“He tried to make it not about him in the pre-match and things, but as soon as he heard the reception coming in on the bus I don’t think that was possible,” said Robertson.

“He tried to make his team meeting as normal as possible but we all wanted to make today about him and everyone wanted to put on a performance for him today.”

The final speech

Guardiola sends fitting Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool message Liverpool

Pep Guardiola may have ensured outsiders did not always give Klopp's teams the respect they deserve but the Man City boss has provided a classy message.

"I hope his farewell game was special, he deserves it," he said. "He made Liverpool recognisable, he left his stamp. People say 'how many titles' but the important thing is the personality. Klopp is on the level with Shankly and Paisley"

Gary O'Neil has his say on Klopp's farewell

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil was at Liverpool with Klopp, but he was hoping to be the party pooper. That wasn't to be and he wasn't overly interested in the celebrations.

"Not special for me to be involved. I was just keen to do my job and get on with my business but for Liverpool Football Club, he's done an unbelievable job. He's connected the club with the area and instilling real belief in what they can achieve. He will be missed by the football club I'm sure and the league."

Teary Van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk was arguably the most emotional of all the Liverpool players on the pitch, so much so that he could barely talk during his post-match interview.

“It was always going to be a tough afternoon for everyone, for different reasons of course. We wanted to make sure that we win the game, that we do our job, basically, then obviously we can all be very emotional after the game, and we will be.”

Klopp says Liverpool won't need an overhaul under Slot

The Liverpool boss previously admitted that he was happier to leave, once he knew he was leaving Liverpool in good shape. He echoed those sentiments again.

"If I carry on, these guys and others will say 'he's been there too long.' You have to be the spark. I love the squad. There is so much potential. They will make changes here and there.

"I'm sure you will all agree there does not need an overhaul. We finished third. We were ahead of schedule. It's a statement in this strong league and I'm absolutely fine with that.

More from Klopp

"The other clubs, with the most money and the best managers, they win it. We didn't have the best manager and never had the best team but for a while we played the best football and I love that. We are a rock solid club and don't overspend. People say 'you didn't spend enough'. What the heck do you want? I just understand this from the Liverpool way."

Klopp congratulates City

"I just want to congratulate Man City." Jurgen Klopp starts his interview with Sky Sports with a message to the new champions.

Klopp's demand to fans over Slot

Was a really good moment. Even if it did draw some comparisons with that Ferguson to Moyes handover.

"You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me. You go all in from the first day. You keep believing. You push teh team. I'm one of you now. I love you to bits.

"Thank you. You are the best team in the world. Thank you!"

Klopp enjoying some private moments

A good portion of the crowd has now left, but Klopp remains on the pitch. Hugging his wife Ulla and embracing Trent Alexander-Arnold's mother.

Klopp's words to the crowd

The Anfield crowd now singing You'll Never Walk Alone in front of a packed Kop. Nobody is leaving anytime soon. Here are Klopp's words

"It doesn't feel like an end. It just feels like a start. Today I saw a football team play full of talent, youth, creativity, desire, greed. That's one part of development, that's what you need obviously.

"In these few weeks where I have had too much attention, I realised a lot of things. People say I turned them from doubters into believers. That's not true. You did it. Nobody tells you to stop believing. This club is in a better moment than a long time.

"We have this wonderful stadium, training centre and you - the superpower of world football. Wow.

Liverpool's German manager Jurgen Klopp comes out for a final farewell at Anfield

"We decide if we are worried or excited. We decide if we believe. We decide if we trust or don't trust. Today I am one of you and I keep believing. I stay believing 100%.

"Obviously I saw a lot of people crying and I will tonight too because I will miss people but change is good. Everything will be fine because the basics are 100% there.

"You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me. You go all in from the first day. You keep believing. You push teh team. I'm one of you now. I love you to bits.

His final fist pumps to the Anfield crowd

Taking it all in

Klopp has been handed a series of replica trophies of everything he has won since taking over nine years ago. He's now talking to the crowd: "I'm surprised, I thought I'd be in pieces, but I'm not. I'm just so happy!"

He's interruped by more chants, specifically the one he asked supporters NOT to sing. "If you sing this next season, that will be funny!"

Klopp walks through the guard of honour...twice

Jurgen Klopp tried to make his way past the players quickly. Van Dijk wasn't having any of it and sent him back to do it again. Anfield sings his name loudly as he hugs Kenny Dalglish and John Henry.

Pep Lijnders has his moment

The man who replaced Buvac, Pep Lijnders is next up. Massive ovation for him.

That only leaves one man left...

Klopp's 'eye' says goodbye

Peter Krawietz next up. He joined the Reds with Klopp in 2015 along with another assistant, Zeljko Buvac.

Buvac left in mysterious circumstances just before the 2018 Champions League final and no-one has ever explained why. Surprise guest?

Klopp remaining in the tunnel

The Sky Sports camera keeps panning to Klopp who is remaining in the tunnel with his backroom staff, Pep Lijnders alongside him, he's set for a new job with RB Salzburg.

John Achterberg next

Big ovation for the popular goalkeeper coach. He's leaving the Reds after 15 years at the club.

Staff say goodbye

Various members of Klopp's staff are now saying their goodbyes, starting with fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer. He's the one who looks a bit like Klopp, fyi.

Joel Matip gets a huge ovation

Joel Matip is next out of the tunnel... eventually. The defender made the fans wait but he gets a huge ovation from the supporters.

He played 201 times for the club, and was a key part of Klopp's trophy winning sides.

Farewell Thiago

A warm applause for Thiago Alcantara as he emerges onto the pitch through a guard of honour.

Such an unfortunate player with injuries over the years. What a talent when he was fit.

Klopp back on the pitch

And the German is wearing a hoody that reads ''I'll Never Walk Alone Again' on the back. It's a nice sentiment, but nobody needs a jumper in this sun. Bad decision in my opinion.

All set for the big goodbye

Reds owner John Henry, his wife Linda, Liverpool chairman Tom Werner and Kenny Dalglish are all out on the pitch now, with a small stage erected for a presentation to Klopp, his departing staff and also Joel Matip and Thiago who are leaving the club this summer.

Alisson, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all giving interviews while the Kop (and the rest of the stands) all belt out a certain someone's name...

Emotions running high

There's set to be a presentation on the Anfield pitch, not just to say goodbye to Klopp - but mainly that. Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are also ending their respective stints with Liverpool.
