Holders Manchester City and Premier League rivals Arsenal, will soon learn their Champions League fate with the draw for the last-16 taking place on Friday morning.

Pep Guardiola's side have sauntered into the last-16 with a 100% record in the group stages, while the Gunners will also be seeded after topping their group. It means the two English sides will avoid Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona until at least the quarter final stage.

The draw is set to take place around 11am at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon in Switzerland. That will be followed by the draw for the Europa League play-off round, although British clubs Liverpool, West Ham, Brighton and Rangers bypass this stage having also won their groups.

The same applies to Aston Villa, who are already through to the last-16 of the Conference League. The draw for the play-off round of that competition will conclude matters.

'Special One' heads to Holland

Feyenoord v Roma is a tasty play-off tie in the Europa League.

Very much a case of 'if' for Manchester United and Newcastle. If United had finished third in their Champions League group, they'd have faced Sparta Prague.

'If' Newcastle had not conceded a late winner to AC Milan, they'd be playing Rennes.

'If' doesn't cut it in Europe.

Terry backs Real Madrid

John Terry, who helped conduct the Champions League draw, is backing Real Madrid for glory this time around.

Delay to Europa League draw

Deaths, taxes, and UEFA draws overrunning.

A reminder there is no Sevilla this time around. The champions finished fourth in their Champions League group. Jose Mourinho's Roma however, runners up last year, are in the mix.

Europa League draw set to start

John Terry helped conduct the Champions League draw, but the ex-Chelsea defender will be replaced by another retired centre-back, Sevilla stalwart Julien Escude, for the Europa League.

A reminder, no British involvement at this stage.

City rivals unhappy

Inevitably, social media is already rife with rival fans of Man City alleging a fixed draw.

Mindless, but amusing.

It has worked out favourably for the champions of course. That tends to happen when you win your group mind.

Arsenal out to repeat history

The last time Arsenal won a last-16 tie was against Porto, ironically, back in 2010.

Nicklas Bendtner grabbed a second leg hat-trick as Arsenal prevailed 5-0. A great chance for Mikel Arteta's men to repeat history.

Europa League draw at 12pm

The draws for the knockout play-off phase of the Europa League (12pm) and Europa Conference League (1pm) are still to come.

Brighton, Liverpool, Rangers and West Ham all topped their respective groups in the Europa League and advance straight to the last 16. That draw for that takes place on February 23

In the Europa Conference League, Aston Villa have also got a bye beyond the knockout play-off round and will feature in the last 16.

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen finished third in their group and are out of the Conference League.

Copenhagen back in Manchester

Copenhagen are technically the lowest ranked team in the competition, but Manchester United fans know all about them being written off.

They lost 1-0 at Old Trafford in the group stages, but only after missing a last minute penalty. And in the return game, a 4-3 win over the Red Devils proved pivotal.

Favourable draw for City and Arsenal

That draw has worked out very well for the two Premier League sides.

Arsenal and Man City will both be big favourites to make the last eight. There, they can meet each other.

UEFA secretary addresses audience

Giorgio Marchetti, Uefa's deputy general secretary, is on stage and is talking through the teams still remaining in the competition.

"The Champions League is always the meeting point of wild football passions," he says.

Marchetti also speaks about the "great" changes to the Champions League from next season. Somehow, he keeps a straight face while doing it.

Here we go

The stage is set.....

Champions League draw at 11am

We are now just 15 minutes away from the start of the Champions League draw.

At this stage last season, City faced RB Leipzig and were held to a shock 1-1 draw in Germany.

But in the second leg, a rampant Erling Haaland scored five times in a 7-0 win.
