Three people were shot at a theme park after a fight broke out between two groups of teenagers.

Police have launched a manhunt after three people, one of them a 15-year-old, were shot at during an altercation near the Musik Express ride at the Kennywood amusement park in Pennsylvania on September 24.

A 15-year-old teen was shot in the thigh and a 39-year-old male was shot in the leg, police said.

According to the Allegheny County police, at least “two shots were fired” as the young man remained in a stable condition in hospital.

The other man was treated at hospital for his injuries and later released - whilst the third person was still receiving treatment for his injuries.

Allegheny County police confirmed there was "an ongoing search" for the active gunman.

The shooter was wearing a black Covid-style mask as he bypassed the theme parks security.

He is said to have caused injuries to several other park visitors as they rushed to escape the shooting.

The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 10.45pm as police surrounded the park and a mass emergency was declared.

The area surrounding the park was closed off and locals were told to keep away from the area.

It is thought most visitors managed to escape with anyone still in the park met by police as they cordoned off the rides.

A number of people suffered minor injuries with cops confirming the shooting led to a considerable amount of people being trampled on as they rushed for their safety.

It is not yet known how the gun bypassed past security as the theme park in Pittsburgh searches bags with metal detectors at the entrance, according to a theme park spokesperson.

The park said in a statement: “The safety of our guests and team members are our top priority.

“Members of the park’s security, Allegheny County, and West Mifflin police departments were already on site and immediately responded.”

The spokesperson added they were “working with local law enforcement” to help them with their investigations.
