A boy was stabbed in the head by a masked thug while walking home from school in broad daylight.

The 15-year-old victim had just left August Martin High School in Queens, New York when he was set upon at around 2.50pm on Wednesday afternoon. The attacker was reportedly wearing a ski mask when he lunged at the teenager with a knife.

It's said the suspect snuck up on the 15-year-old and plunged a knife into his head and shoulder. According to police and sources who have spoken to New York Post, the attack happened near Guy R Brewer Boulevard and 112th Avenue in South Jamaica.

The wounded boy was rushed to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he is said to be in a stable condition. The motive behind the attack is unclear and no arrests have been made as of yet, police said.

The knife attack came after a brutal day of stabbings across New York on Tuesday. Four students were stabbed and slashed in three separate clashes on the grounds of schools.

The hour wave of violence saw two students knife each other in Hell’s Kitchen at a building that houses several schools, another student slashed in a gang attack inside the Evander Childs Educational Campus in the Bronx and a fourth person stabbed at the Queens High School of Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences.

And last week, two teens were killed and at least six others were wounded as bloodshed across the city continues. One of those attacked was a female tourist, who was stabbed near Times Square on Saturday. Video footage captured the moment the attacker lunged at the unexpecting woman, who was taken to hospital but later released.

“There is always talk about too many guns on the street, and there are, but it seems like every teen has a knife,” a Brooklyn detective told the New York Post. “You think you are getting punched and all of a sudden you are bleeding because someone stabbed you in the chest or back.”
