A woman in her 60s has died after suffering a head injury in a fall from a mobility scooter.

The woman was dashed to hospital on Friday morning after the accident but died of her injuries there today.

She was riding the scooter along a residential road in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and fell to the ground near a junction.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident.

"This was a very sad incident that resulted in a woman’s death," Detective Constable Adam Rigby, from Nottinghamshire Constabulary, said today.

"We are currently working to understand what happened so we can give her family the answers they need.

"We are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us to come forward with information, and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage at or near the scene."
