The UK may be feeling a slight chill at the moment, but Brits are now being warned to brace themselves for a much-anticipated heatwave on its way to sizzle.

Despite rumours of a possible "heat dome" and scorching temperatures sweeping the nation, Brits were instead met with endless rain and the kind of weather usually seen in October than July. But now, the forecasters at Exacta Weather are more convinced than ever that a major shift is on the horizon, telling us to "get the barbecues ready".

Exacta Weather's James Madden has now warned that Brits are in for a scorcher, with mercury levels potentially soaring past 35C, maybe even hitting the 40C mark. In their latest forecast, Madden announced: "Get the barbecues at the ready, as a big change and some big heat are now set to arrive on cue!

He added: "The expected and well-promised pattern change for July 1020, particularly July 1517, is now on and imminent for some very hot to potentially extreme heat, which is now on the horizon for many parts of the country within the next several days."

And if that wasn't enough, the latest Global Forecast System model runs have ramped up expectations, predicting an earlier arrival of the hot spell and potentially extreme heat during the same mid-July window, especially around the July 17. It looks like it could get exceptionally hot for vast swathes of the UK and Ireland.

From as early as next weekend, temperatures are set to climb as summer makes a roaring comeback. The UK should brace for a major heatwave, with weather experts saying: "This major heat surge is now fully expected.

"There is now absolutely no reason why this developing scenario won't produce temperatures in the mid-to high 30s in places and 30C+ elsewhere at the peak of this heat for in and around mid-July, and over a several-day period or more, at the very least from later next week onwards."

According to weather maps by Netweather, July 12 is likely to mark the start of the heatwave, and by July 15, London and southern coastal areas, including Brighton, Chichester, Dover, and Newhaven can expect sweltering highs of nearly 29C.

Meanwhile, Somerset and Dorset look set for cooler climates, with temperatures ranging between 24C and 26C, while cities such as Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool may experience highs between 25C and 27C. Temperatures along the coast of Devon and Cornwall are predicted to be even milder, ranging between 17C and 21C.

In Scotland, coastal regions could feel a cool 14C, but towns on the east coast can anticipate warmer weather, with temperatures varying between 22C and 25C. Wales, too, will see quite a temperature variation 17C in coastal regions, reaching up to a significant 26C in the north and south.
