The next bank holiday is just a couple of weeks away, and better still, there is an extra one to look forward to in 2022

Even though the last bank holiday was on May 2, millions of Brits are now turning their attention to when the next one is here.

There are still a few to come, with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee giving Brits across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland an extra reason to celebrate.

This year has an extra bank holiday to mark a historic day in British history and there will be plenty of celebrations to go alongside it, including an entire weekend of festivities.

There are plenty more days off to come and here is a full breakdown of 2022’s remaining bank holidays.

What is the next bank holiday in 2022?

Spring bank holiday

On Thursday June 2, marks the Spring bank holiday.

Taking place this year on a Thursday, it is the perfect time to take a quick break away for a long weekend thanks to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

This bank holiday has been observed in the UK for decades and in 2002 an extra day was given to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

This year the UK is getting an extra bank holiday to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Marking 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne, there will be street parties, bonfires and festivities all around the UK.

Set for Friday June 3, the day after the Spring bank holiday, millions will be able to enjoy a four-day weekend once again.

It will be the biggest jubilee in British history, as all the Commonwealth is historically getting involved.

Beacons and bonfires will be lit across 54 Commonwealth capitals and festivities are open to all who want to get involved.

Summer bank holiday

The Summer bank holiday is the last one before the Christmas period.

Set for Monday August 29, it is the last long weekend to enjoy the British sunshine before the new school year begins.

Boxing Day

The Boxing Day bank holiday comes ahead of Christmas Day this year, thanks to the weekend pattern of 2022.

Boxing Day falls on Monday December 26, meaning Christmas Day is on a Sunday this year.

Christmas Day (Substitute Day)

The Christmas Day bank holiday has been moved to a Tuesday this year.

Taking place on December 27, once again millions will be able to enjoy a four-day festive weekend.

Overall, there will be three four-day weekends this year, so there’s plenty of reason to celebrate in 2022.

Scotland has the most bank holidays this year with a whopping 11 days off.
