Disgraced entertainers Gary Glitter and Jimmy Savile allegedly lured and abused young girls into their sick lair at the BBC.

Karin Ward, who was among the first to come forward and expose the disturbing crimes of the TV personalities, claimed she witnessed the pair sexually abusing teens in Savile's dressing room at the BBC Television Centre.

Savile was finally exposed as a paedophile, rapist and serial abuser after his death. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is currently serving a 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three schoolgirls in the '70s.

Tonight, Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile airs on ITV and highlights how the pop singer was able to evade justice for decades.

In 2012, Karin, then 54, waived her right to anonymity and claimed on ITV's documentary In Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile that she was one of many victims to be indecently assaulted by the broadcaster at the age of 14. She also claimed that Savile and Glitter attacked girls in his dressing room at the time he was filming Jim'll Fix It in West London.

Karin claimed she saw Glitter "have sex with a girl in Jimmy Savile's dressing room - in the alcove bit" at the studios. She said: "I didn't see it completely but that's what was going on and nobody batted an eyelid."

Karin continued: "Jimmy Savile had a girl on his lap and his hand up her skirt and inside her underwear. She came from Duncroft and was 14. The girl Gary Glitter was having sex with also came from Duncroft. I think she might have been not quite 14."

The BBC said at the time they 'could not identify or trace Gary Glitter's alleged victim'. When approached by reporters at his flat in Central London and asked if he 'had sex with a girl' in Savile's dressing room in 2012, Glitter said: "Absolutely no. Thank you and goodbye."

On another occasion, Karin claimed she was abused by Savile in his car after he promised to take her and other girls to London to be on his show. She said: "Jimmy Savile used to come to Duncroft. He used to take us girls out. We loved it when he was here.

"Everybody knew he was a perv and everybody knew he would be groping and wanting sex and wanting other worse things than just plain sex but he brought lots of nice things with him. We got nice food when Jimmy was coming. He used to bring a thousand cigarettes with him and cigarettes were the currency in that kind of environment so girls just flocked around him."

Karin said Savile would bring them sweets, perfume and make-up and "lavished gifts on everybody", but then wanted them to come out for a "ride in his car". She claimed the presenter took her out in his car one afternoon and pulled into a lay-by to abuse her.

"This had happened before and he had just groped - there had been a bit of snogging and groping. This time he wanted more," she said. "But I know when I mentioned it to the other girls later on, when we found out we were going to London, I said, 'Well, it's because of me, what I did - I did this' and I found out some of the other girls had done similar. One or two had had sex with him, all on the promise of going to London to be on his show."

A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "Following the revelations about Savile, the BBC commissioned former Court of Appeal judge Dame Janet Smith DBE to conduct a thorough, independent review of the culture and practices of the BBC during the years he worked here, which was published in 2016. We accepted the conclusions and recommendations in full and since then have implemented a number of changes to help prevent anything like this happening again."
