A baby has been found dead in a London street, sparking an urgent police investigation.

Met Police Officers were called at around 4pm on Monday to reports of a "concern for welfare" in Taviton Street, Camden. When they arrived a baby was found dead.

The cause of the tragedy is not yet known. A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Police were called to Taviton Street, WC1, to reports of a concern for welfare.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene. A baby was sadly found dead. Enquiries continue into the circumstances."
