If you find yourself waking up at the same time every night without any apparent reason, there might actually be an explanation for it.

Waking up during the wee hours can leave you feeling drained, and fatigue could become a constant companion when you're unable to establish a healthy sleep routine. Trying to drift back to sleep after being jolted awake in the middle of the night can often feel like a Herculean task.

However, a health enthusiast now shed some light on this issue. The Wellness Way Westminster took to TikTok to reveal the surprising reason why you're waking up in the middle of the night, attributing it to a lesser-known "issue".

She explained: "If you are waking up like clockwork in the middle of the night, I don't care if it's 3am, 4am, 5am, but you keep waking up at the exact same time, every single night, this is an adrenal issue.

"What does that mean? It means your adrenals are revving up, they're trying to balance out hormones or trying to regenerate more hormonal tissue, they're trying to give you what you need, and you're waking up as a side effect because they can't do it."

She suggested if you're consistently waking up at the same time each night, you should "get your hormones tested", and even have your adrenal gland examined.

The expert also recommended taking supplements such as ashwagandha, rehmannia, and maca, labelling them as "adrenal supporters".

She also shared tips on how to "reset your circadian rhythm", suggesting "grounding techniques", getting "enough natural sunlight", and taking breaks and walks.

If you're worried about your sleep cycle, it's a good idea to make an appointment with your GP.
