A TV chef shared details of her "15-hour method" to make "perfectly crisp potatoes" - and foodies can't get enough.

Poppy O'Toole, who regularly offers culinary tips on ITV's This Morning, has become a social media sensation amassing more than four million followers on TikTok alone. In her latest video she takes spuds to the next level in her "new and improved recipe".

"Can we all just take a moment of silence for this?" she asks fans as she's seen cutting into her latest offering. "Aah the crunch." Rewinding to the beginning of her technique, Poppy begins by pouring beef dripping over her peeled potatoes, which have been sliced thinly.

"Plenty of salt and give it a good mix," she adds, before placing the potato in a lined baking tin. "Next we're going to layer up bit-by-bit those pieces of potato then put it in the oven for three hours," she explains, placing a sheet of baking paper over the food.

Once out of the oven, Poppy places three tins of food on top of her work. "We've got to weight it down for 10 to 12 hours," she explains. "It's got to be really heavy to make sure it stays nice and compact."

After the time elapsed, Poppy removes the potato from the fridge, slices it up into chip shapes, and deep fries them in oil until they are "golden and crispy". Ending her clip, she declares the spuds are "absolutely delicious" before tucking in to her creation.

Poppy added further info in the comments section: "COOKING/PREP TIMES: 1. Three hours in the oven at 130 degrees Celsius 2. Twelve hours in the fridge to set 3. Deep fry at 190 degrees Celsius."

Amazed by her method, one follower declared: "I suddenly have 15 hours of free time today." Another joked: "I would die for this potato."

A third gushed: "I made these because of your video. And THEY ARE AMAZING! Thank you for being so awesome and inspiring me to cook at home." And a fourth penned: "I made these a few days ago for the first time. People complain about 15 hours. I’d make them if they took 100 hours… so good."
