John Barnett is a Boeing whistleblower who was found dead in the car park of his hotel days after testifying in a bombshell lawsuit against the plane production company.

John Barnett, 62, worked for Boeing for 32 years, until his retirement in 2017. In the days before his death, he had been giving evidence in a lawsuit. In March 2024 he gave a formal deposition and was questioned by Boeing's lawyers, before being cross-examined by his own counsel.

He was due to undergo further questioning but after failing to show up for the second part of his testimony, inquiries were made and he was found dead in his truck in the car park of his South Carolina hotel. It was alleged that he died from an apparent "self-inflicted" gunshot wound. Police are investigating.
