Tributes have been pouring in for Treat Williams from across Hollywood following his sudden death at the age of 71.

The actor, who starred in both the stage and screen productions, died on Monday evening after a motorcycle crash in Dorset, Vermont.

John Travolta starred alongside Treat on the Broadway show Over Here! back in 1974 and has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to his former co-star.

Sharing a picture from their play, the 69-year-old said: "Treat Williams and I got out start together in NYC appearing in 2 Broadway shows, "Grease" and "Over Here".

"I'm so sorry Treat. My thoughts are with you and your family. You will be missed. Love, John."

Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone also paid tribute to Treat on social media, sharing a picture of a news article about his death.

Alongside it, she wrote: "Sad news rest in peace brother."

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, who acted alongside Treat in the 1999 TV movie 36 Hours to Die" remembered him as a "friend and wonderful actor".

Taking to Twitter, she said: "I'm in shock! RIP Dear Treat. My condolences to Pam, Gilles, Ellie and the family. A wonderful actor and friend."

Vanessa Hudgens, who played Treat's on-screen daughter in 2018's Second Act said the actor had "the kindest soul".

"He was a great movie dad and an even better human being. Treat Williams was a fantastic actor, a joy to be around, and the kindest soul. He will be missed," she wrote on her Instagram story.

Hilaria Baldwin added: "We feel sick... Our heats are broken... Rest in peace, dear friend. Pam, Gill, Elinor, we send love."

His agent of 15 years, Barry McPherson, confirmed the news of Treat's death on Monday evening in a statement released by People.

It read: "He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.

"He was an actor's actor. Filmmakers loved him. He's been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s.

"He was really proud of his performance this year. He's been so happy with the work that I got him. He's had a balanced career."

It has been reported Treat's fatal crash happened on Route 30 by Long Trail Auto near Dorset at around 5pm on Monday evening.

According to fire chief for Dorset, Vermont - Jacob Gribble - the tragic incident involved Williams' motorcycle and a single car, where the driver of the car did not see the turning bike.
