Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s net worth pales in comparison to their famous Hollywood friends.
Despite having a reported combined net worth of £48 million ($60 million), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have struggled to top the income of their close circle of friends, with many of them billionaires. While Meghan and Harry didn’t rake in the cash while working as senior members of the Royal Family, they didn’t have to splash out on buying a house, as they had Frogmore Cottage, which was gifted to them by the late Queen Elizabeth II when they tied the knot in 2018.
Since relocating to the US, the couple have made money through other career paths, including setting up their own production company, Archewell Productions, as well as inking a short-lived deal with Spotify. Their massive Netflix deal, which was reportedly in the region of £80 million ($100 million), is set to expire next year, but there are rumours the couple are set to release new projects on the streaming giant in an effort to have their megabucks deal renewed.

Oprah Winfrey
While settling down in California, the couple have become close friends with a string of famous faces, including talk show host and all-round icon Oprah Winfrey. The trio’s friendship has grown in recent years, especially since Harry and Meghan chose Oprah for their explosive tell-all interview in 2021. Meghan’s friendship with Oprah began much earlier than that, as the 70-year-old was also invited to her and Harry’s wedding in 2018, and when news emerged of the couple’s decision to step down from the Royal Family, Oprah was behind her pal. "I support them 1,000 percent," she told TMZ at the time.
However, Oprah’s huge media empire - including a TV network and publishing organisation - has made her a fortune of more than £2.2 billion ($2.8 billion). Her enormous compound in Montecito, just down the road from Harry and Meghan’s mansion, is called The Promised Land, and sits on a whopping 42 acres, and is said to be worth more than £80 million ($100 million).
Tyler Perry
Another loaded famous friend of Harry and Meghan is filmmaker Tyler Perry, who was on hand to help the couple as soon as they landed in the US back in 2020 by lending them his Los Angeles mansion for a few months. The actor and director is reportedly Princess Lilibet’s godfather, and has been close friends with the couple for a number of years. Tyler’s net worth is around £1.1 billion ($1.4 billion), and the property he loaned to Harry and Meghan four years ago is worth more than £12 million ($15 million).
He spoke about his friendship with Harry and Meghan in an interview with Kelly Ripa last year, and revealed he had reached out to the couple through his publicist. "Everybody thought Oprah introduced us, but Oprah didn't even know that I reached out to them and I sent them a note through our, we had the same publicist years ago, and just said, 'If you ever need anything, I'm here,' and she called months later and just talked to me like I was a therapist you talk to and we just had a great conversation,” Tyler shared.
Ellen DeGeneres
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also count another talk show legend as one of their close friends - Ellen DeGeneres. Meghan first met Ellen in 2012 when she appeared on her eponymous talk show while starring on the hit legal drama series Suits. The pair hit it off when they ran into one another at a dog shelter in Los Angeles, with Ellen persuading the actress to adopt a pet pooch.
Harry and Meghan were in attendance when Ellen renewed her vows to wife Portia De Rossi last year, with Kris Jenner officiating the surprise ceremony which was held at their home in Montecito. Ellen also shared earlier this year that the couple had adopted one of her rescue chickens, and the bird would be living permanently in the lavish grounds of Harry and Meghan’s mansion, with their children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.
Despite her talk show coming to an end in 2022 amid allegations of a toxic workplace, Ellen has a staggering net worth of £300 million ($380 million). Her wealth is in part due to her talent for flipping properties, as she made more than £16 million ($20 million) in just a few months after renovating a palatial mansion in Montecito. According to Architectural Digest, Ellen and Portia have bought and sold at least 20 properties since 2003.
George and Amal Clooney
While they haven’t been seen together since their wedding in 2018, Meghan and Harry are also close pals with George Clooney, and his wife Amal Clooney. The former Suits star has known the human rights lawyer for a number of years, with sources calling their bond a "natural friendship". An insider told People: "Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while [and share] many interests. Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life. It was a very natural friendship from day one."
Harry and George’s bond was reportedly over the Ocean 11 star’s extensive collection of classic motorcycles, and with the former ER actor worth more than £561 million ($700 million), he has plenty of cash to splash on the two-wheel vehicles. Despite George swearing never to ride a motorcycle again after his near-fatal crash in Italy back in 2018, he has still reportedly kept his collection of bikes as well as classic cars. "George and Harry have a shared passion for motorcycles and checked out George’s collection and they also played basketball together," royal expert and Meghan’s close friend Omid Scobie claimed.
