A royal expert has warned Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in danger of causing a repeat of a problem that previously caused them international embarrassment.

Royal author and expert Tom Quinn has suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "would find it impossible to recover from the blow of losing their Netflix contract". There's been growing speculation that their five-year deal with Netflix, due for renewal next year, is on the chopping block.

Tom spilled the beans on Harry and Meghan's Spotify fiasco, where their contract was terminated prematurely due to a lack of content, leaving the couple embarrassed and eager to dodge another flop. "It's very likely to be a repeat of the problem with the couple's Spotify contract which came to an abrupt end in 2023 after Harry and Meghan failed, according to a Spotify spokesperson, to meet 'productivity benchmarks'," Tom explained.

Meghan, still reeling from the Spotify mess, is determined to succeed in her commercial ventures despite the setbacks. "It's always been Meghan's dream to build a hugely successful commercial enterprise and she is still convinced even after the Spotify debacle that she has the drive and talent to make this happen. The loss of the Netflix contract would be a major blow and one from which it would be all but impossible to recover," he revealed.

"The last thing Meghan wants is the humiliation of trying to set up a deal with a much smaller company - the way things are going even that might not be a possibility."

Harry and Meghan inked a whopping £100 million mega-deal with Netflix in 2020, shortly after they declared their intention to step down as senior working royals. The pair moved to the US and made their home in Montecito, California, but have left fans underwhelmed with their sparse output on Netflix.

They starred in a docu-series, Harry and Meghan, which offered a glimpse into their life behind-the-scenes as they embarked on their new American journey, as well as Harry's documentary Heart of Invictus, which told the tale of the prince's cherished Invictus Games.

However, Mr Quinn told The Mirror he believes Harry and Meghan have not done enough.

"Harry and Meghan are on the brink of losing their multi-million-dollar Netflix contract for the simple reason that Netflix expected a great deal more from the couple," he said.

Despite the swirling rumours, Meghan and Harry are reportedly busy cooking up new projects for Netflix. The former Suits actress is collaborating with the streaming giant on a new cookery and lifestyle show under her brand, American Riviera Orchard. Meanwhile, Harry is diving into a documentary project about his passion for international polo. The Mirror has reached out to the Sussexes for a comment.
