The finale of Love Island may be edging closer, but there are still plenty of secrets and drama headed our way – and we’re not just talking about the islanders. Maya Jama’s glossy locks have been one of the series’ best-kept secrets, but her stylist has finally shared the details on which products he uses to create her ultra-shiny strands, and we were over the moon to discover just how easy and affordable it is.

To get Maya’s glossy locks, hairstylist Jay Birmingham, who also styles the likes of Rochelle Humes and Khloé Kardashian, used TRESemmé’s brand new haircare range on the Love Island host’s hair. Coming in at £7 each, with one slightly pricier product landing at a still-affordable £10, the new TRESemmé range couldn’t be more affordable, and judging by Maya’s super sleek tresses, they really do work too.

The new TRESemmé Lamellar Shine range uses Lamellar technology to wrap each hair in a protective coating which gives your strands a laminated effect, leaving them with some very impressive shine. The PRO Style Technology is enriched with amino acids and ceramides which help protect and nourish your hair, leaving it healthier, stronger and – of course – shinier.

Love Island 2024 has begun. Boots has launched a new collab covering everything you need for villa life, with must-haves ranging from fragrance to skincare plus essential beauty gadgets.

To get Maya’s results, Jay used the complete range of products, including the TRESemmé Lamellar Shine Shampoo, Lamellar Shine Conditioner, Lamellar Shine Cream and Lamellar Shine Oil. To use them correctly, start by applying the shampoo to wet hair, lathering and rinsing just like you would with your usual shampoo.

Next, add a generous amount of the conditioner to damp hair and leave it in for two to three minutes to let it work its magic. Following that, you can use two to four pumps of the Lamellar Shine Cream in your hair either as a leave-in conditioner, as a rinse-off treatment, or as a pre-shampoo treatment for an added boost of shine.

To finish, apply between one and three pumps of the hair oil between the palms of your hands and distribute evenly throughout your lengths and ends. You can do this on either damp or dry hair, before styling as you usually would.

During last year’s summer season of Love Island, Maya and her stylist Aaron Carlo also revealed that they used Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, which is currently reduced from £27 to £19.95, to achieve her smooth, sleek hairstyle. The spray is the secret to finishing off a glossy look and to achieving Maya’s mirror-like shine.

Well if these products are good enough for Maya, they’re good enough for us!
