Phillip Schofield has sent a message of support to Jeremy Clarkson while relaxing in bed.

The former This Morning presenter broke his year-long social media silence earlier this month. He sensationally quit ITV after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague. Phillip has kept out of the spotlight since last year when he apologised to co-host Holly Willoughby among others for lying about the relationship.

Two weeks ago, Phil made a dramatic return to Instagram as he changed his profile picture to his new adorable puppy Alfie. He went on to share a photo of his dog sitting on his bed watching Formula 1 and captioned the picture: "Thankfully, Alfie is a big @f1 fan." Phil has only made a few posts since and returned to social media again, this time to send a message to Jeremy Clarkson.

The former Dancing On Ice host shared a snap from his bed with his puppy. He filmed his dog watching the TV at the end of the bed, with Jeremy's hit TV show Clarkson's Farm playing. Phillip wrote: "Thank goodness we love watching the same shows... he's obsessed with Clarkson's Farm! @jeremyclarkson1 #Alfie #clarksonsfarm."

He then shared two more short clips of his dog watching Jeremy collect honey. The former Top Gear presenter's pigs then appeared on the screen, which sent Phillip's pooch wild as he barked at the TV. Phillip simply captioned it: "Ah..." Phillip's new Instagram bio reads: "Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things.”

Among those to like his first photo was Keith Lemon comedian Leigh Francis and former co-star Josie Gibson, who largely stayed quiet after news of Phillip's affair broke last year. Phil was first pictured with his puppy in April as he and wife Stephanie Lowe were photographed cradling matching dogs on a walk during his birthday.

Over the weekend, Phillip shared another post online just hours after the news his former This Morning colleagues Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford announced they were divorcing. Phillip again shared a photo of his dog Alfie and a cheeky caption alongside it. After sharing a pic of the dog rummaging through his clothes on his Instagram Story, Phillip posted a pic of the sweet-looking hound along with: "Alfie …. Where did you put my socks?!"

It comes as rumours swirl about Phil making a TV comeback after he was pictured with close pal Declan Donnelly. The pair were snapped laughing and joking in London after enjoying a four-hour evening in a restaurant. Phillip took along Alfie who was snapped walking ahead on his lead.

"Since he left This Morning, Phil has been held up by the support of friends like Ant, Dec and Alison Hammond ", a source said to The Sun, before claiming that Declan Donnelly was one of his biggest supporters. "They have all been rallying around him and their support, especially from Dec who is such a good friend, has really helped Phil."

But despite his reservations, bosses are keen to get the ball rolling for him: "Some TV executives have been in touch with Phil about a possible return and his friends have told him he should consider it. Phil is still shell shocked by everything that happened last year and is happy at the moment to focus on rebuilding his life with the support of his friends and family."
