Nigel Farage has FOUR burly security guards surrounding him at the TRIC awards - where he is up for the Best News Presenter award.

The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here contestant is now a hoping to return as a politician, and is standing for election as an MP in Clacton for Reform. His first outing on the campaign trail at the Essex town saw him pelted with a milkshake by a local woman.

But he attended the ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House hotel in his role as a presenter for GB News, where his colleagues include Eamonn Holmes - who is also nominated in the news presenter category.

Walking the red carpet, one security guard wearing a bulky gilet followed his every move. When he sat to dinner, another suited security guard stood behind him, with his previous bodyguard joined by two more surreptitiously dressed men.

He was attacked by a woman outside a Wetherspoons pub, who hurled a milkshake in his face. A 25-year-old woman was arrested after Farage was doused with a drink outside a pub in Essex. Images from 4th June appear to show a McDonald’s banana milkshake being thrown at the Reform UK leader as he left the Moon and Starfish pub. She was later charged with assault.

Farage is currently campaigning to become the MP for Clacton, with the reality TV star standing in the general election for Reform UK next month after recently taking over as the party's leader. The former UKIP and Brexit Party leader previously shunned suggestions he was standing to be an MP for an eight time but announced his change of heart at the start of June - stating that he doesn't want to let his supporters down.

Elsewhere at The TRIC Awards, newly-single Eamonn Holmes rocked up at the swanky showbiz bash, opting to ditch the red carpet amidst the buzz of his split from Ruth Langsford. The GB News anchor is gunning for the Best TV presenter award, is pitched against the likes of Susanna Reid, Farage, and Matt Chorley in a fierce battle for the title.

In the run-up to the big day, pals of Eamonn hinted he'd probably make an appearance despite nagging back woes throwing a shadow over his plans. Those near to him reminisced about Eamonn's past triumphs and banter with television comrades at TRIC, revealing his soft spot for the ceremony. "He would like to go but it is in the balance, a lot will depend on how he feels on the day," spilled a confidant to The Mirror,

Eamonn, however, confirmed his attendance at the awards by sharing a photo from inside the opulent venue on his Instagram on Tuesday afternoon. Instead of gracing the red carpet, Eamonn chose to discreetly enter the venue and wait for his meal. "Whatever the results, a nice lunch awaits #Tricawards," he captioned the picture shared with his fans on social media.

The former This Morning presenter hit the headlines last month thanks the surprising end of his seemingly flawless marriage with Ruth Langsford, also 64. A representative for the former couple stated at the time: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."
