Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle faced an extremely awkward blunder while performing at the O2 Arena.

The songstress, 39, is currently preparing for the final shows with her bandmates on their The Girls Aloud Show reunion tour. This week, the quartet will perform a further three concerts at the iconic venue in the capital, before performing two shows at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena. They will go on to headline Brighton Pride in a UK festival exclusive on August 3.

Before reuniting, the band had been surrounded by feuds but came together to support their late bandmate, Sarah Harding, following her devastating breast cancer diagnosis. Honouring Sarah's final wish, the group decided to reunite to celebrate their 20th anniversary since being formed on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals.

Nadine, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh have been treating fans to their mega-hits including Wake Me Up, On The Metro and their biggest track, The Promise as they reminisced on their two decades in music. But during their closing track, The Promise, Nadine suffered a blunder.

As she belted out the lyrics to the BRIT Award-winning song, the Derry-born star tried to keep her cool after pink confetti was fired across the arena. In a video which has been shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Sweetest High singer could be seen attempting to cover her mouth.

However, her attempts were not successful as he inhaled some of the confetti and appeared to be choking before swiftly regaining her composure. Although her bandmates didn't appear to be aware of the incident, it has happened to Nadine previously. During one concert, TikTok star Josy Burke captured the moment Nadine was caught out while performing Jump.

Welcoming the final chorus of the Love Actually track, thousands of pieces of multicoloured confetti were fired across Dublin's Arena – yet again, catching Nadine by surprise as she inhaled the pieces. "Nadine Coyle choking on confetti has to be a tour highlight for me. She's an icon," wrote Josy alongside the hilarious video.

Following the awkward moment, Nadine told the crowd: "I choked on one of those things the other night. I took a big deep breath and I was like huh, looking for the Heimlich to be fair. And in this day and age, somebody caught it and put it on TikTok so I could relive that moment any time I want."

During the concerts, the band share a touching tribute to Sarah, with a video montage set to the tune of their hit Whole Lotta History. Her voice echoed through the venue during the opening of I'll Stand By You and her memorable "walking primrose" The Promise.

Sarah tragically died aged 39, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. In August of 2020, she told fans that it had advanced to "other parts" of her body. Following her devastating death, her bandmates who reconciled during her illness have vowed to keep Sarah's memory alive and have since become the faces of The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal and have raised vital funds to fund research into the illness in Sarah's honour.
