Man Charged in Connection with Double Non-Fatal Shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lexington Chief of Police Michael McLean have confirmed that Brent Justice Roman-Finnagan, 22 of Lexington, has been arrested in connection with allegedly shooting his mother and her friend inside the home where he and his mother lived on Keeler Farm Way in Lexington.

Yesterday at 4:46 p.m., Lexington Police received a 911 call from the suspect’s mother, a 57-year-old female who resides with her son at the home on Keeler Farm Way, reporting that her son had shot her and her friend, a 55-year-old Haverhill woman. Police officers arrived on scene and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. The two women were transported to an area hospital where they remain in stable condition.  The suspect was also transported to the hospital last night for a mental health evaluation, but he has since been released.  He remains in custody pending his arraignment on Monday in Concord District Court.

Based on the investigation,  police learned that the suspect had illegally purchased a firearm that he had been keeping in his room. Yesterday, while he was in the home with his mother and her friend, he retrieved the gun and shot both women.

Brent Justice Roman-Finnagan has been charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of assault and battery as a result of discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lexington Police.
