Juvenile Charged in Connection with Incident Involving Gunfire Outside of Burlington Apartment Complex

BURLINGTON – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Burlington Chief of Police Thomas Browne have announced that a 16-year-old male has been charged in connection with allegedly firing a gun outside a Burlington apartment complex on October 17, 2023. 

On Tuesday, October 17, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Burlington Police responded to a call reporting the sound of a gunshot in the area of the Avalon Burlington apartments. Upon arrival police located a victim who reported he had arranged to meet with the suspect.  That suspect allegedly shot at him during their encounter.  The victim was able to provide police with some information about the alleged shooter, who had fled the scene.  That description included that he had been wearing a GPS monitoring device.  Police were subsequently able to identify the juvenile who had an open case out of Bristol County.

On October 24, Massachusetts State Police located the suspect in Boston and placed him under arrest.  At the time of his arrest the juvenile was located in the backseat of a vehicle.  He was carrying a loaded firearm, a large amount of cash and marijuana. He has been charged in Suffolk County  with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession with intent to distribute a class D substance.  

The juvenile was charged in Middlesex County with Armed Assault to Murder, Attempted Assault and Battery with a Firearm and Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building. 

These charges are allegations and the juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Edward Kim. 

With the exception of youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.
