After a day on safari in The Serengeti, guest Alex Walker was about to head back to camp when he and his Micato Safari Director spied a lion in the tall grass who was in turn spying a dewy dazzle of zebras.
The breathtaking moment when the lion explodes through the grass is what Alex memorialized above in his photo, the grand prize winner of the Micato Photo Contest, for which he will receive a $2,500 cash prize and a $3,000 credit in the Micato Safari Shop.
Allow us also to present these winning photos by Micato guests Karl-Heinz Hoefert and Kent Freeman, who will receive $1,500 cash/$2,000 safari shop credit for second place and $1,000 cash/$1,000 credit for third.

We realize this text is the only thing that stands between you and clicking through the rest of our winners below, so we’ll be brief:
We are grateful to all who enter our contest, open to all travellers who have ventured either to Micato’s Africa or Micato’s India.
You may enter the contest anytime with photos you shot any year you travelled with Micato. We announce winners annually. So for any given calendar year—say, 2024—we will reveal our winners early next year.
If you’ve yet to travel with Micato, we hope these stunning photos inspire you or your travel advisor to contact us, as our Micato Safari Directors would love to get you to the right places at the right times to take astonishing photos like these.
Enjoy!
