REDWOOD CITY — A Vallejo man was being held on human trafficking charges after police say he kept a woman in prostitution against her will at a South San Francisco hotel room.

Shon Tinsley, 27, was arrested Monday at a hotel on Mitchell Avenue after officers found him with a 20-year-old woman who he’d “fraudulently induced” to working as a prostitute, South San Francisco police said. The woman, who wasn’t identified, was put in contact with social services.

Police went to check on Tinsley, who was on parole for burglary, around 7:45 a.m. and didn’t discover anything illegal, but they did talk to the woman. Police said she told them Tinsley was keeping her in prostitution even though she wanted to stop.

Tinsley was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, pimping and pandering and booked into San Mateo County jail in Redwood City.

Anyone who spots what they think is human trafficking can call South San Francisco police at 650-877-8900.
