PLEASANTON — Dr. L. Hunter Lovins, named Time magazine’s Millenium “Hero of the Planet” for her efforts to promote sustainable development, will give a free lecture Monday evening.

She will speak at 6 p.m. at the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Ave.

Her topic will be “Climate Capitalism,” drawing from the Natural Capitalism concept she co-created to work with businesses, governments and organizations to create a profitable approach to developing sustainable businesses and communities.

“Climate Capitalism” is also the title of her new book. Signed copies will be sold after the lecture.

She is co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute, a non-profit research and educational foundation focused on the efficient and sustainable use of resources.
