The Terra Nova baseball team will play El Camino this week, looking to put their foot in the door of the Central Coast Section playoffs.

Currently, with a 7-5 Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division record and tied for first place, the Tigers are fighting for a spot in the playoffs. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.

For Terra Nova to beat El Camino, varsity baseball coach Joey Gentile will have to be better than a former mentor. Carlos Roman coaches El Camino. He was a Terra Nova coach when Gentile played for the school 23 years ago. Now, Gentile needs to beat Roman for a chance to make the playoffs.

The Tigers have won four straight games. If they sweep El Camino this week they will win the league title. They will need to win at least one game to make the CCS playoffs. The Tigers are tied for first place with Burlingame and Carlmont, all with 7-5 records.

Last week the Tigers beat Burlingame at home and defeated Menlo Atherton 15-6.
