Six executive committee members of soccer’s governing body FIFA were accused of receiving or demanding bribes during bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Issa Hayatou of Cameroon and Jacques Anouma of the Ivory Coast were allegedly paid $1.5 million to vote for the Gulf nation of Qatar, which beat out the United States for the 2022 Cup in a December vote, according to evidence submitted to a British parliamentary inquiry by The Sunday Times newspaper.

Bush drew critical responses from a number of his nearly 1.7 million Twitter followers when he posted: “Everybody complaining about the lockout! Shoot I’m making the most of it! Vacation, rest, relaxing, appearances here and there! I’m good!”

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, said lightweight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez has accepted a revised offer to fight Pacquiao in November. The hitch is that Marquez’s promoter, Golden Boy, has the contractual opportunity to match the deal, and its chief executive says he plans to.
