  • At the Martinez Library, Story Time programs are on vacation.

    For adults, the Martinez Bookworms Book Club: Meetings have been discontinued while the library is under renovation, but those interested are invited to attend the Pleasant Hill Library Book Club, at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month.

    The library at 740 Court St., Martinez, is closed for renovation. The interim library is at 401 Ferry St. Phone: 925-646-2898. Hours: noon-8 p.m. Mondays; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays; noon-5 p.m. Fridays; and closed Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

  • At the Pleasant Hill Library, Story Time programs are free.

    Mother Goose Time: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. There will be songs, rhymes, bounces, tickles and simple stories for tots up to age 3.

    Preschool Storytime: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Thursdays features stories and songs for preschoolers and toddlers, ages 3-5.

    Bike to the Library Week: Through May 14, all day. Participants celebrate bicycling, and finish the week with the Kid’s Bike Rodeo.

    Kid’s Bike Rodeo: noon-4 p.m. May 14. Culmination to Bike to the Library Week. A team of youth cycling instructors from the East Bay Bicycle Coalition will teach kids about bicycle safety. Kids can bike around a mock city in the library parking lot and learn how to ride safely. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the library.

    Caterpillar Puppets: 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 24. The Itty-Bitty Variety Show is presented by the Caterpillar Puppets.

    Wii Thursdays for Teens: 3-5 p.m. May 19. Teens are invited to play with the library’s Wii games or board games.

    Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library Book Sale and Free e-Waste Drop-Off: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. June 4. Book sale will be held in the parking lot behind the library. E-waste accepted includes batteries, TVs, telephones, computers, printers, cartridges, microwaves and more.

    Pleasant Hill Library Book Club: 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in Room A.

    Battery Recycling: Recycle dead batteries in the collection bins at the library’s Green Zone.

    Las Juntas Artists Association: In partnership with the library, each month the group exhibits the works of different artists during regular library hours. In May, the works of College Park High School students participating in the Las Juntas Artists’ annual Teenage Art Competition will be on display.
