LAFAYETTE — The Contra Costa County Office of Education will honor 36 high school seniors Wednesday with “Students of Excellence” awards for outstanding achievement in Regional Occupational Program, or ROP, classes.

The award program will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building, 3780 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette. Honored students will each receive a certificate of merit and a $200 scholarship.

The county program offers 361 career development classes in 33 high schools in Contra Costa and Alameda counties that serve 11,000 students. Classes include hands-on experience and rigorous academics to prepare students for college and careers.
