The Youngest Test Player In The World Is Not Even 13 Years Old!

It is not unusual to see cricketers make their debut as teenagers. Our very own Sachin Tendulkar did so when he was 16.

Age limit

The ICC now does not permit anyone to debut for the nation before the age of 15. Though countries can appeal to the body for an exception in special cases.

Youngest male Test player

Hasan Raza was 14 years and 227 days when he made his Test debut. He's the youngest male, but not the youngest player.

The youngest ever

Believe it or not, the youngest Test player was not even 13 at the time of debut.

The player

Sajjida Shah of Pakistan was only 12 years and 178 days old when she debuted in 2000 against Ireland.

Numbers

Sajjida's stats were not out of this world with just over 1000 international runs and 50 wickets in 70 appearances.

Early end

Sajjida's career ended in 2010 when she was just 22.

Safe record

Since the odds of the ICC allowing another player under 13 to play for the country is next to nothing, this record is more or less safely in the bag.
