Heart failure (HF) prevalence affects > 64 million individuals worldwide, and approximately 50% of HF cases are heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). HF is a clinical syndrome characterized by dyspnea or exertional limitations owing to structural and/or functional cardiac abnormalities. In patients with HFrEF, the heart is unable to contract with enough force during systole to meet metabolic demands. Despite the advances in therapies and prevention, HF remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Early detection, diagnosis, and effective treatment of HFrEF are important to prevent recurrent hospitalizations, improve quality of life, and enhance patient outcomes.

How much do you know about the presentation, workup, and treatment of HFrEF? Test your knowledge with this quick quiz.
