The incidence of true urinary tract infection (UTI) in adult males younger than 50 years is low (approximately 5-8 per year per 10,000), with adult females being 30 times more likely than males to develop a UTI. The incidence of UTI in males approaches that of females only in men older than 60 years. Complications of acute bacterial prostatitis include bacteremia, septic shock, prostatic abscess, epididymitis, seminal vesiculitis, and pyelonephritis. How much do you know about UTIs in males?
