MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Bzrezinski got into an on-air scrape Wednesday that began when Scarborough made a comment that came off as dismissive of Brzezinski’s opinion.
Mika was in the middle of a rant calling out Paul Ryan for not denouncing Donald Trump: “[Trump] is a train wreck going 1,000 miles an hour. It is about the Republicans around him now, the story is about you. I don’t mean to have a nasty tone and I say to Paul Ryan, go home and spend some time with your family.
But partway through Scarborough began to interrupt, getting more visibly irritated as Brzezinski kept speaking. “You’re a Democrat,” he said. “Let me say this. It means nothing coming from you, you’re a Democrat.”
“Excuse me?” asked an angry Brzezinski.
“It means nothing coming from a Democrat to these Republicans,” he maintained.
“Actually, the Democrats are going to win the election,” she shot back.
Brzezinski returned to her original point and berated the Republicans for supporting Trump, but ended with a barb towards Scarborough.“I’m sorry that I’m a Democrat and it means nothing coming from me, but I’m telling you, that’s how this story ends,” she said.
“Don’t get mad at me here,” Scarborough said.
“I am,” she responded.
“You’re mad at me?” he asked again incredulously.
“A little bit, yeah.”
“I was making a point that they’re just going to say, ‘oh, you’re a Democrat,'” he explained.
“Okay, well, good,” Brzezinski responded. “When I turn out to be right like I have been every step of the way, you all can enjoy saying it means nothing coming from me.”
Scarborough eventually tried to explain himself and smooth things over as Mika glared. “I agree with you. I mean, let’s unite and not divide,” he said.
