Geraldo Rivera Rails Against ‘Cabal of Aging Superstars’ at MSNBC Who Got Ronna McDaniel Fired: ‘This Is Censorship!’

NewsNation correspondent Geraldo Rivera railed against the “cabal of aging superstars” at MSNBC who worked to get former Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel fired from NBC News, Tuesday.

After NBCU News Group Chairman Cesar Conde announced on Tuesday that NBC News would no longer be hiring McDaniel following opposition from a group of NBC and MSNBC hosts, including Rachel Maddow, Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Jen Psaki, Rivera accused the “cabal” of working against the network’s own best interests.

“I think that Rachel Maddow is guilty of malignant wokeism,” Rivera told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo. “God did not anoint her the arbiter of who was appropriate for her network to hire or what their point of view is.”

He continued:

I think that there is an arrogance about the whole notion that the 75 million people that voted for Donald Trump are all out to lunch, that they don’t have the right to make a selection. Half of those 75 million people probably, tens of millions certainly believe the election was stolen. I reject that thesis. That’s why I would never support Donald Trump again.

But there are a lot of people who do not agree, that agree with Ronna McDaniel, who is the most intimate insider NBC could ever have hired. It was a brilliant idea. She would have or could have spilled the beans on the fake electors and the alternate slates and so forth and so on. Instead, you had this cabal of aging superstars at the network who insisted that this person was somehow inappropriate. Says who and according to whom?

Rivera concluded, “It really is outrageous. This is censorship!”

On Monday, after McDaniel’s hiring first received criticism from hosts at MSNBC, Rivera accused the hosts of being “pretentious” and “past their prime.”

“Screw them!” he reacted. “I mean, the whole idea is that they were hiring her to be the ultimate insider, and here she gets washed away, she gets drowned by this tsunami of pretentious bullshit! Really, all of these people that have a stick up their behinds, how dare they!”

Rivera then added, “I hope she tells them all to screw it, she’s sticking around, forces them to fire her, and then sues them for millions because they have humiliated her in a very, very unjust way.”
