Fox’s Brit Hume Says ‘Howls Of Outrage’ About Rising Palestinian Death Toll Will ‘Test’ U.S. Support Of Israel

Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume said that as Israel’s military response to this weekend’s Hamas terrorist attacks grinds on, the increasing number of dead Palestinians will spur “howls of outrage” that will test the West’s resolve.

More than 900 Israelis were killed and more than 100 abducted over the weekend when Hamas caught Israeli security forces off guard by launching a series of attacks inside the country. In response, Israel has carried out bombings inside Gaza and cut off the territory in what it called a “complete siege,” depriving its 2.3 million inhabitants of power, water, and food.

Fox News’ Bret Baier addressed the carnage on Monday’s Special Report.

“You and I have covered the Middle East for a long, long time and really haven’t seen anything like this,” he told Hume, who proceeded to predict an Israeli victory, but one that will come at a “frightful price for all sides.” Hume also said a rising Palestinian death toll will prompt outrage and “test” Western countries’ resolve:

This conflict that’s now raging is likely to be very bloody, very violent. It’s gonna last a while. Victory, I think, will be secured, but at a frightful price on all sides. And don’t discount the possibility that very soon, indeed, as the death count climbs and as, you know, howls of outrage about alleged atrocities by the Israelis begin to mount, that’ll be a test of the countries in the West and particularly in the United States as to whether to stand by Israel in the face of that.
