Chris Christie Predicts Hunter Biden Will ‘Have To Do Time In Jail’ Even If He Pleads Guilty: No ‘Sweetheart Deal’

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie predicted during an interview MSNBC that Hunter Biden will serve time in prison due to his recent indictment even if he receives another plea deal.

On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden’s son was indicted for nine tax-related federal criminal charges, including filing a false tax return and failing to pay taxes. Prosecutors accuse the younger Biden of engaging in a scheme to avoid paying $1.4 million federal taxes owed between 2016 and 2019.

Christie, a former prosecutor, joined Andrea Mitchell on Friday to discuss Hunter’s recent legal predicament, adding that it’s unlikely the First Son will receive a “sweetheart deal”  like he did during the summer.

He’s facing what he should have been facing from the beginning, which were felony tax charges. When you involve millions of dollars in tax evasion. That is a felony. And the same thing with the felony gun charges. And, you know, he faces these charges because the government has evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed these crimes. And so he’s now going to have to decide how the best way is to resolve these matters. I’m sure that he could negotiate a plea at this point, but it’s not going to be the kind of sweetheart deal he got before. And my guess is that with the combination of the gun charges and the tax charges that Hunter Biden is going to have to do time in jail.

Biden also faces three federal gun charges for alleging lying about his drug use in order to purchase a gun in 2018 that he kept in his possession for 11 days. Prosecutors had initially agreed to give Biden a plea deal that would have spared him from spending time in jail, but that came to a dramatic end in a Delaware courtroom over the summer.
