Barstool’s Dave Portnoy Tells Fox Biden Actually Did ‘Great’ at Debate Despite Dems Trying to ‘Set Him Up’ to Fail

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy ripped George Clooney for calling on President Joe Biden to be replaced on the Democratic Party ticket just weeks after joining him at a fundraiser.

Portnoy joined Fox & Friends on Thursday and admitted he was in the “minority” because he thought Biden did “great” at last month’s CNN debate against Donald Trump. Biden’s team has since admitted it was a bad night and pointed to a cold and jet lag from a return trip from Europe 12 days prior as reasons he was off that night.

“I’m probably in the minority… I thought Biden did great because I was expecting him not to be able to put a sentence together,” Portnoy said. “If you have actually paid even a tiny bit of attention to Joe Biden over the last year or two years, you know that he’s gone and it happens when you get old.”

Portnoy accused Clooney and others like Chuck Todd of delaying their reactions to Biden until after the debate. Clooney penned an op-ed this week calling for Biden to be replaced as the nominee just weeks after helping to host a fundraiser for the president. Todd also reported on his podcast this week that a “senior” member of Biden’s cabinet raised concerns about him running for reelection two years ago.

“I couldn’t believe they let him do the debate, which brings to the point if all these people — Clooney, Chuck Todd, whoever, everybody knew that this man is basically a vegetable,” Portnoy said. “Why would you ever let him do that debate unless you wanted to show the world that he’s gone and get rid of him? It’s shameful and the crazy part is I think a lot of people… you could say it’s Trump versus a head of lettuce and people hate Trump so much they may vote for the head of lettuce.”

“Dave, so are you suggesting Biden’s own team set him up to blow it?” Steve Doocy asked.

“Yeah, I think the Democrats,” Portnoy said.

He argued anyone close to Biden would have known what to expect prior to sending him on that debate stage.

“What did they expect to happen? I literally was like, oh, he’s doing better than I thought and the rest of the country’s like, this is the worst thing ever,” he said. “It’s like, where have you been?!”
