An official at CPAC chief Matt Schlapp’s organization allegedly oversaw the shredding of documents conducted by interns after Schlapp was accused of sexual assault.

According to the Daily Beast, which cited three familiar sources, the American Conservative Union’s manager of strategic initiatives, Lynne Rasmussen, “directly oversaw interns shredding documents in or near her office shortly after” the Daily Beast published allegations of sexual assault against Schlapp in 2023.

The shredded documents allegedly included “personal documents belonging to Schlapp” and “business records related to Schlapp’s private lobbying outfit, Cove Strategies.”

The Daily Beast reported that Schlapp “was on notice at the time about potential legal action” when the documents were allegedly shredded.

Rasmussen has reportedly been subpoenaed, along with CPAC board member Carolyn D. Meadows and CPAC adviser Turner Johnson.

Last year, Republican strategist Carlton Huffman filed a lawsuit against Schlapp, accusing the CPAC head of fondling his groin without consent during a car ride.

“Matt Schlapp of the CPAC grabbed my junk and pummeled it at length, and I’m sitting there thinking what the hell is going on, that this person is literally doing this to me,” said Huffman in a video at the time. “I’m supposed to pick this motherfucker up in the morning and just pretend like nothing happened.”

In December, Schlapp was hit with further allegations of sexual misconduct, including a 2022 incident where he allegedly rubbed himself in his underwear against a person without consent and a 2017 incident where he attempted to kiss a male staffer.
