Chris Christie Says It’s ‘Stupid’ Biden Hasn’t Called Him Since He Vowed to Never Vote Trump

Chris Christie believes President Joe Biden is making a mistake not reaching out to him after the former New Jersey governor vowed to never vote for Donald Trump under any circumstances.

Christie sat with The Washington Post’s Leigh Ann Caldwell at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics for a lengthy talk on a number of topics. Christie confirmed to Caldwell that the president has not called him since he declared he will not be voting for Trump in November after briefly facing him in the Republican presidential primary race.

“It’s pretty stupid for him not to,” Christie said about Biden not contacting him.

Christie reiterated that he is not supporting Trump in November, but he was not very enthused about the prospect of voting for Biden either.

“President Biden, in my view, is past the sell-by date. Seriously, look at him,” he said.

Christie explained he is glad he lives in New Jersey rather than a battleground state where his vote would be more impactful on a close, two-way race.

“If the American people are stupid enough to nominate these two guys, doesn’t mean I have to be stupid, too,” he said.

Christie has long said he will not support Trump.

“The only thing I will commit to is: I’m not voting for Trump under any circumstances,” he told The View in February.

Christie also did not throw his support behind any third party effort, saying he decided against just such a move himself because he did not want to risk helping to elect Trump.

“There’s certain things I’m willing to live with,” he said. “That’s not one of them.”
