‘Attempt to Market Dictatorship to Americans’: Joy Reid Sounds Alarm on CPAC Speaker Pledging End to Democracy

MSNBC’s Joy Reid sounded the alarm after Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec vowed at the Conservative Political Action Conference to finish the work started by Jan. 6 Capitol rioters and “overthrow” democracy.

Reid argued on Thursday that Republicans are simply trying to sell Donald Trump as a “cool dictator” at CPAC, and she was especially surprised by Posobiec’s comments.

“If their attempt to market dictatorship to Americans is successful — scaring is caring — we’re in for a lot worse,” Reid warned.

“Joy Ann REED losing it about me last night,” Posobiec posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Friday in response. “I’m sorry, Joy, don’t go blowing your top over it! Btw pls make sure to change your smoke detector batteries. The chirp doesn’t mean it’s working – stay safe!”

Reid’s covered Posobiec’s shocking statement as part of a larger piece on CPAC and some of its wilder moments, including a Jan. 6-themed pinball machine that displays footage from the riot while a user plays.

“These people are telling you exactly who they are, folks,” she said.

Reid argued the speakers at the Washington D.C. event have promoted Donald Trump as a “cool” and “fun” dictator who can take on “Godless liberals.”

“Where they’re going overtime to sell Trump as the one true savior against the rest of us Godless liberals,” Reid said.

In the CPAC footage, Posobiec told Steve Bannon he was ready to “overthrow” American democracy.

“Welcome to the end of democracy!” he said. “We’re here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6th, but we will endeavor to get rid of it and replace it with this right here. That’s right, because all glory is not to government, all glory to God.”
