President Joe Biden’s high stakes interview with ABC News will air in full as a primetime special on Friday night in a schedule overhaul that elevates his first televised press engagement amid increasing pressure and public interest in his current political standing, following a lackluster performance at last week’s CNN presidential debate.

Initially, ABC planned to air parts of the interview on World News Tonight on Friday, with the extended version scheduled for Sunday on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The interview, conducted by Stephanopoulos, will also have its first clip featured on World News Tonight earlier the same evening. ABC News has committed to releasing the full, unedited transcript of the interview on Friday.

At last week’s debate, Biden’s performance raised concerns about his age and competency as he struggled to complete sentences and appeared disoriented, while former President Donald Trump was fact-checked after propagating falsehoods.

The upcoming interview is seen by the president’s campaign as a pivotal opportunity for Biden to address these concerns and reinvigorate his campaign.

The interview will be available to watch on ABC News at 8 p.m. ET on July 5.
