Joe Scarborough Blasts ‘Media Elite’ for Pressuring Biden to Drop Out — Just 10 Days After He Called for a Change
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough hit out at “media elites” for pressuring President Joe Biden to jump out of the presidential race just 10 days after he himself called for the Democrat to consider stepping down.
As Biden supporters have rallied behind the president in the week since his pivotal CNN presidential debate performance, the MSNBC host knocked the call from the elite class of Democratic individuals demanding the president drop out.
Introducing his framing on the issue, Scarborough asked how “media elites and billionaire donors… think that they can substitute their judgment for the judgment of millions of Democratic primary voters.”
His comments echoed the sentiment expressed by Scarborough Sunday on social media, in which he claimed Joe Biden is “having to fight” a cabal of elite forces:

The remarks come just 10 days after Scarborough said he was sad to admit that “unless there’s a change,” former President Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States – even coming to sharp on-air words over his take with co-host and wife Mika Brzezinski.
To caveat his framing at the opening of Monday’s show, Scarborough started by continuing to push his retconned take on the issue in an apparent bid to show Biden-loyal viewers that he was back on message.
Pushing the line that he has taken since his return to air following his call for Biden to consider stepping down, the host began by expansively explaining his position by reading aloud a timestamped quote captioned on screen in which he urged the party to “take a breath and see what happens over the next few days.”
Having done this, Scarborough then rounded on Biden-critical Democrats and echoed a tweet from Sunday night, which said that the president could consider himself now at odds with “elites”.
He told viewers: “Well, those few days have turned into about a week, week and a half. Here we are, and I find it absolutely fascinating. We’ll get to the Bloomberg polls that came out this past weekend. I’ve forever talked about the Siena poll that shows Donald Trump losing independents.”
He continued: “But Joe Biden now has what I would dream of having if I were running for president of the United States in his position. I’ve got Washington insiders against me. Well, let’s put it the way it is: Joe Biden now can say he’s having to fight media elites, New York Times editorial page, billionaire donors – they’ve been on the phone for a week and a half – Washington politicians, even though Mark Warner now canceled his meeting… The congressional black caucus, by the way, not really happy with all these people trying to substitute their elitist viewpoints for that of millions of Democratic primary voters. Hollywood moguls – hey there, Ari [Emanuel] and Ms. [Abigail] Disney. Of course, MAGA extremists.
The host added: “So Biden allies, now, this is what they’ll say: ‘Wait a second, you’re telling me media elites and billionaire donors and Washington politicians and Washington moguls, they all think that they can substitute their judgment for the judgment of millions of Democratic primary voters?’”
