Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) subtweeted President Joe Biden in a thinly disguised call for him to drop out of the presidential race on Sunday.

Almost two weeks ago, on June 26, American women’s soccer star Alex Morgan acknowledged that she would not be on this year’s Olympic team.

“Today, I’m disappointed about not having the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic stage. This will always be a tournament that is close to my heart and I take immense pride any time I put on the crest,” she wrote. “In less than a month, I look forward to supporting this team and cheering them on alongside the rest of our country. LFG.”

On Sunday night, Nessel suddenly found herself responding to Morgan’s post, declaring “I adore Alex Morgan. One of the greatest of all time. But she’s aged significantly from her prime playing days & gracefully accepted that in order to win the gold it was time to pass the baton.”

“No one will ever forget her incredible accomplishments, but Alex just wants what’s best for the team and for America. That’s what makes her a true champion,” she added.

Nessel’s subtweet comes as pressure continues to build on Biden to step aside after his poor performance in last month’s debate with Donald Trump.
