There’s nothing like the comforts of home. Just ask Mac Jones, who had no problem revealing his off-the-field hobbies.
The Jaguars quarterback, who was born in Jacksonville, did a “get to know me” TikTok for his new team. Jones was asked to reveal what some of his hobbies are. While naming the basics — golf, fishing, etc. — he dropped one that came as a bit of a surprise. Jones also may have taken a shot at his former New England Patriots team.
“I don’t really have too many. But I mean, I golf a little bit, I like to go fishing, like to be on the beach. I like to do a little bit of rapping,” Jones said in the video while laughing. “I do though, I do. I’ve got a couple of songs. Nobody knows about it. So I’m letting the world know now that I’m not in New England.”
Perhaps former coach Bill Belichick wanted Jones’ focus to be on football without any outside distractions. Or perhaps the quarterback kept it under wraps for other reasons. Regardless, it appears the 2021 first-round pick is already enjoying his fresh start.
The Patriots traded Jones to the Jaguars last month, ending his three-year tenure in New England. After a promising rookie season, Jones couldn’t quite replicate what he did in 2021. MassLive reported that by the time the Patriots’ 2023 season finale came around, Jones and Belichick’s communication was essentially “nonexistent.”
Jones will be Trevor Lawrence’s backup with the Jaguars, which might benefit him being able to learn under someone while he tries to reestablish his career.
If all else fails, maybe Jones can fall back on a rap career.
